Do you have sheep or goats and would like to process them yourself in a humane, on farm setting that makes the most of each animal? Or have you been curious in being part of a slaughter or butchering?

This workshop will cover traditional slaughter, kosher and halal methods, processing and butchering, as we work with this season’s ram lambs, born this spring. We will explore their care, diet, anatomy and ecology, and how to make traditional use of all parts, including the blood, bones, head, feet, organs and the fleece - as well as the tools needed for this work.

We’ll learn slaughter, skinning, dressing, how to navigate and prepare organ meats, and butcher the meat into primal cuts, finished cuts and grind. This ancient skill set is both attainable and intuitive - and you’ll leave feeling confident to explore this work on your own, for sheep, goats and deer.

We will cook some liver and other treats to share, and discuss nutritious recipes. Lamb share option available.

Attendees are invited to roll their sleeves and participate as they feel comfortable to do so. All this will be done in the respectful and open-hearted context of interdependence with a focus on gratitude, interconnection, and safety.
